Dubai has these amazing dock yards worthy of an exploration. Huge ships just docked on the side of the road waiting for the following season to start before they re-enter the ocean. It was quite a spectacular sight, so out-of-place in its back drop. With my camera in tow, Candice and I visited one she knew about. We infiltrated the camp of men fixing up these boats and made friends with Steven who decidedly took it upon himself to introduce and sell us alcohol at black market prices. Although I did not mind a drink under the scorching desert sun, purchasing vodka bottles in crates was not what we came here to do. After politely declining the offer, we asked to roam the premises and took plenty of photographs. This first picture has been in my archive library and has never made it to public. Somehow when I re-visited the album, it caught my attention. I used to post a huge quantities of each shoot I did, but over time, I’ve learnt to edit on the selection. I grow more critical with myself over time, especially my older stuff. I still love the second photograph though, taken at least 2 years ago.
